Great weekend for book signings

Hello everyone,
This has been a great weekend for my family, friends and I. It was a terrific drive to Florence on Friday to Books A Million where I did my book signing. Event went well and I so appreciate all the love. I sold out of FROM MY FRONT PORCH and there wewre only 2 copies of SINNERS NEVER SLEEP left on the table. I drove to Charleston, SC on Saturday and sold a ton of books at that event as well. Thanks to everyone who came out and shared their love with me. I walked away from each event with many great friends. I love all of you.

Blessings.

Book Signing at BooksAMillion in Florence today went really well

Hello You All,
I haven't blogged in a while, problems with computer, but glad to be back on the scene. I had a nice drive over to Florence from Sumter, SC today for a book signing. I sold out of FROM MY FRONT PORCH and there were only 2 copies of SINNERS NEVER SLEEP left. I met so many nice people and I want to thank them all for their love and support. I certainly couldn't do this without them.
Well, Mama is asleep in her chair so I gotta run and put her to bed. Good night all and we will talk again soon.

Blessings.

Mama and I had breakfast in yard while brothers pressure washed house

It was a nice breezy morning on Wednesday and Mama and I had breakfast outside while my brothers, Jerry and Robert pressure washed our house and did some yard work. Mama enjoyed the wonderful breezes as I fed her. It was a great morning.

Mama and I returned to the inside nearly 1pm. I hope you are enjoying your summer.

Blessings to you all.

Mama is sleping, I'm watching the rain. It's a very nice afternoon

It's the day after Mama's birthday. She had a wonderful day; lots of contacts and well wishes. Thanks to all who showed Mama so much love.

It is raining this Friday afternoon, Mama is asleep and I'm watching the rain fall and I am enjoying it. It is a wonderful afternoon. Tomorrow, I go to Books A Million, Northwoods Mall, Books A Million to do book signing of books From My Front Porch and sequel, Sinners Never Sleep.

Soon, I will shampoo my hair and later do a couple of hours of editing one of the books I am working on, A Day In Paradise.

Everyone be safe and stay cool in the midst of all the heat we are experiencing. Blessings.

Sold Out Book signing at Book A Million at Concord Mills North Carolina

Hello Again!

I did a book signing at Concord Mills Books A Million in North Carolina on Saturday and fortunately, we sold out. When I signed my last two books, From My Front Porch & Sinners Never Sleep, there were still others around the table who wanted to buy books from me. I am so appreciative of all the love that was shows me in North Carolina and I will be calling as the manager requested to do another signing real soon.

So often I have had to cancel book signing events because of Mama's illness but God is good. He allows me to do well every time I am able to do an event and I am truly grateful. And, I want to express my heartfelt thanks to each and everyone of you who love and support me. Thank you and I love you all right back.

Mama is fiesty but book signings are going great

Hello, hello, hello,

I hope you all are well. Mama and I are great when she isn't fighting or just being fiesty. Whatever, she is still the love of her children's lives. It is time for me to put her to bed for the night but wanted to tell you all how well my book signing went today. I did a signing at Books A Million, Northwoods Mall in North Charleston and it went extremely well. The store is having their major book sales this and next week and they asked me to come back this coming weekend but no can do because I have something else scheduled. I graciously thanked them for being so generous to me, allowing or asking me to come in to their store so regularly to do signings. The stores are great to me and I appreciate it so much.

Good night all. I'm putting Mama to bed and I think I'm gonna put myself to bed as well. Thank a thousand times over for all your support of me. I love you all.

Blessings.

The two bedrooms have been converted into one, now the painting will begin

The contractor has been working in Mama and my home most of the week, converting two bedrooms into one and that phrase of the work is done. Monday, the painting will begin--Midday yellow and white. It should be pretty. Mama likes yellow so most of the house is now yellow. I had a book signing in Charleston at Books A Million today (I changed from Fayetteville and went to Charleston instead and the event went very well, even after a slow start. Anyway, after I drove back to Sumter from Charleston, I went out shopping for bedding and curtains for Mama and my new room and saw some great things that I will get. I was just too tired to stand in any line and wait on making the purchases, but Monday after another dental appointment, I will go back to Anna's Linen and rack up on some really pretty things.

To those of you who haven't gotten my two newest books, From My Front Porch and sequel, Sinners Never Sleep, please pick up a copy from your favorite book store or order online at Amazon.com or urbanbooks.net.

Until next time, take care and be blessed.

About to have renovations done-turning two bedrooms into one

Hello everyone,

I am excited today because the contractor came by and talked with me and my brothers about some renovations in Mama and my home. We are combining two bedrooms into one which hopefully will be a nice room where I can set up a small area as an office, or at least put my computer and desk.

Now for the good stuff, both of my books, From My Front Porch and especially the sequel, Sinners Never Sleep. I am thinking about self-publishing my next book, Looking For Mr. Tonight. If I do, it will be on the market before Christmas. Look guys, I ain't too proud to beg, to those of you who don't have my books, please go out and buy them or order from Amazon.com or one of the chain stores. Help me out here, people and in advance, I thank you..lol.

Blessings to you all.

2 great book signings this weekend, my nephew, Chris McKnight from ATL visits, Boston Celtics wins Eastern Division

Hello All,
It's been a minute since I've blogged. I did book signings at Books A Million stores on Friday(Charleston-Northwoods Mall) and Fayetteville and both went well. I signed my two most recent books, From My Front Porch and sequel, Sinners Never Sleep. I hear they are great books. Please get a copy...:) and tellme what you think.

My favorite team in the NBA is the Boston Celtics (favorite player is Shaq/Cavs) won the Eastern Division. I am so happy about that. Now, I hope they put it to the Lakers.

My naphew, Chris McKnight is visiting Mama and I. He lives in ATL. Our talks are wonderful as we are reliving long ago when he and his family returned from overseas and lived here until they bought a home. It was great and I miss them from being here but hey everyone is grown now. I enjoy his visits.

Got to go and check on Mama. Once again, please go out or order online my books, From My Front Porch and Sinners Never Sleep. The books will not disappoint. Thank you so much and be blessed.

A Beautiful Mother's Day for Mama and I

Hello All,
My mother and I had a wonderful Mother's Day. We got cards, gifts and flowers. My brother, Robert and his wife, Lillie gave Mama a beautiful bouquet of white roses, they gave me a gift package of body logion and shower gel. Beautiful. My brother, Jerry and his wife, Doritha gave me a beautiful card. The card company did an appropriately beautiful job on the imprinted portion of the card, but when my brother wrote, 'thank you for being the mother to our sisters, brothers and our parents,' I completely lost it. Tears flowed. I would trade my family for all the tea in China. Meaning, I wouldn't take anything for them.

To those of you who have read my books, From My Front Porch and sequel, Sinners Never Sleep, I want to thank you so much for your support, and I hope you have enjoyed them.

One of my upcoming books is LOOKING FOR MR. TONIGHT. I would appreciate your continued support so please be on the look out for my upcoming books.

My book signing at Books A Million in Charleston this past Saturday went very well. It amazes me the generousity of people. As I was doing a book signing, one customer, a lady who owns a boutique, was buying two sets of my novels, Front Porch and Sinners. I mentioned that I had done a book signing at a boutique in Florence a few times and how well it went. She thought it was a good idea, then she purchased an additional 10 copies of each book which brought her total purchase to 24 books. I thanked her perfusely and I went out to my car and brought her several free copies of a book of short romantic stories, Champagne Dreams & Chocolate Kisses, that I wrote under my birth name, Minnie Dix and gave to her.

I got to get back to writing. Take care my friends and be blessed.

Why can't dentist do all work in a couple of weeks instead of a couple of years?

Hello All,

I went to the dentist again on yesterday. Why do dentist stretch out work that they do that can be done in a few appointments not like I have a problem with all twenty-eight teeth that I do have. I did some writing last night on a new book. Not sure when it will be finished. Again, to those of you who aren't familiar with my work, I have two novels on the market by Urban Soul. The books are From My Front Porch and sequel, Sinners Never Sleep. Please buy or order online my books and let me know your thoughts.

Thanks again to those of you who supported me this past weekend at Books A Million stores in Charleston on Friday and Fayetteville on Saturday. Both signings went well. Until next time, be blessed.

Book Signing, Waldenbooks in Charleston on Friday and Sumter Mall on Saturday

I hadn't done a book signing in Waldenbooks in Charleston on corner of Meeting and Market Streets since last year but it was great being in that store again. I was saddened that one of my favorite managers in the Charleston stores has left. The signing went okay..It has gone better but it was such a beautiful day and there was some sort of air show going on so there wasn't much of a crowd.

My signing in Sumter went pretty good. Although, I have done a lot better here as well. The manager told me that they still sell a high number of my books so I am just greatful for everything and everyone who come out in support of me. I am still working on a number of other projects and will notify when something new is coming out. Please go out and buy or order my books online. The books are From My Front Porch and sequel, Sinners Never Sleep. Thanks so much.

Blessings to you all until next time. Love to you all!

A Beautiful Sunday Afternoon to Run Errands Or Just Relax

Hello out there,

Well, it's Sunday again and my time to spend several hours away from home to either go shopping, a drive, visit Swan Lake or whatever I want to do. Two of my brothers, Jerry and Robert, came in and took care of Mama after church today while I took some Minnie/Leigh time. When I returned home, Mama was asleep and only one brother was here. Those boys are manning up. They don't like to be here with Mama alone--simply put, one can't handle her alone.

Still relishing in the fact that my book signings over the weekend went very well. I did BookAMillion in Florence Friday afternoon and BooksAMillion in Northwoods Mall in Charleston on Saturday. I signed my books, From My Front Porch and the sequel, Sinners Never Sleep. Thanks to each and everyone of you who came out and supported me. I take nothing for granted and I love you all dearly. Until next time, Blessings to you all.

Book signings at Books A Million in Florence and Charleston

Here I go again; Often times, due to family situations, I do book signings at the spur of the moment. The stores are so gracious to me, they always keep plenty of my books on hand so that if I want to do a signing of my two books, From My Front Porch and sequel Sinners Never Sleep, I can call only days in advance and they will have me come in and do a signing. I can't thank the few stores that I do go to, enough. They even encourage customers to purchase my books when I am not there. It doesn't get any better than that.

I did a repeat signing at BAM in Florence again this Friday night and it went well. I alwo did a signing in Charleston at BAM in the Northwoods Mall. Charleston always goes well. Many thanks to all the wonderful people who support me. I simply couldn't do it without so much support. Thank God and thank you too.

For those of you who are not familiar with my books, please go out or go online and purchase From My Front Porch and Sinners Never SLeep. I would appreciate it very much.

Mama and I are going to bed now. Have a good night you all and enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Book Signings in Florence, SC at Books A Million and Barnes & Noble

Hello Everyone,

Just wanted to drop a note to say I did two book signings this past weekend(both in Florence, SC. The books are From My Front Porch and the sequel, Sinners Never Sleep. I was at Books A Million on Friday and though I didn't sell as many books as I normally do at that store, I sold several dozens at Barnes & Noble on Saturday. I was pleasantly surprised that I got to meet several of my Facebook friends and their families and one of the reviewers for Rawsistaz. They were all very nice and we had wonderful talks and some of them bought books which I appreciated very much.

I took my Mama with me both days over the weekend and though I believe she got a little tired on Saturday, I could tell she was enjoying riding around in the wheel chair enjoying seeing all the people while her sitter shopped. I just want to say how accommodating the stores are with me. They don't have a problem with how long I stay. If I want to leave for a minute just to check on Mama, they don't have a problem with that. And, the nice thing is that they allows me to come whenever I want to.

I just want to thank everyone who supports me, come out and ask questions about publishing or just to talk. I enjoy it all and feel priviledge that God has put so many wonderful people in my life. Thanks to you all and I love you.

Beautiful trip to Charleston along with my mother and her sitter for my book signing at Books A Million

Hello all,

My mother and her sitter accompanied me to my book signing at Books A Million in Charleston today and it was so special having her there. We took her wheel chair and she was able to go with the sitter and shopped while I met new people, reacquainted myself with some old friends and signed some books.

There is a number of events going on in Charleston this weekend so the mall wasn't very crowded, but I did pretty well and I was grateful for the wonderful people who supported me and to the ones who said they would at a later time.

The two books that I am promoting are From My Front Porch and Sinners Never Sleep. Not only are these book wonderful, enjoyable reads, they also make wonderful gifts. Don't forget Mother's Day is coming up soon so this would make a terrific gife for all the women in your life and it is very easy shopping.Love to you all until we meet again. Blessings.

Book Signing at Books A Million/Village at Sand Hill

Hello to all you bloggers out there.

I haven't been out here for a while now. Had root canal done and was out of it for a bit but I'm on the move again. I did a book signing today at Books A Million/Village at Sand Hill and I sold all but several copies of my novel, From My Front Porch, and we sold out the sequel, Sinners Never Sleep. In additional to having former co-workers, new and old friends come out and supported me at this event, one friend whom I met several weeks ago who bought only Sinners because that was the only title we had, she went to another book store and bought Front Porch. She sent me a nice e-mail telling me how much she loved my books and she came with her family to my book signing today and bought two additional sets of my books. Marsha is wonderful and I love her. What a friend she is.

I've got other book signings coming up this week: Friday, Books A Million/Northwoods Mall/Charleston and Saturday, Books A Million/Harbison/Columbia. Please come out and join me and let's get to know each other. Also, I want to thank each and every one of you who have supported and cared about me and my mother and always ask about her. You guys are great and I love you all. Blessings to you all.

Book signings in Charleston and Sumter this weekend

Hello out there,
It's kinda late and almost time to put Mama to bed but I wanted to say hello to you and to express my profound thanks for your friendship and support. You came out this weekend in Charleston and here in Sumter, S.C. and supported me immensely. I signed both books, From My Front Porch and the sequel, Sinners Never Sleep. Please check out my website, www.leighmcknightonline.com and feel free to sign my Guestbook and share your feelings with me. Please follow me on twitter, Facebook and continue to follow my blog.

I've got a really good suggestion for a terrific novel you might want to read. Why not join me in reading Hostage of Lies by Maxine Thompson. This is a fantastic book that offers so much history. I wouldn't be surprised if this book is a required reading book in many schools. I will report back on my review of the book when I am finished. I'm getting close but don't want toe story to end.

Well good night for now and as always blessings to you.

Working on new novel and glancing at Mama's Valentine's Day flowers

Hello everyone,
I got lots of nice things for Valentine's Day, but I didn't get any flowers y'all. Mama did tho. I guess I should say to her, 'you go girl.' Just kidding. She loves her beautiful bouquet and I love seeing the beautiful smile on her pretty face.

Also, just wanted to report that because of all the support you've given me, my novels, From My Front Porch and Sinners Never Sleep are doing well. Thank you so much. I have recently completed two more novels, Looking For Mr. Tonight and Satisfying The Woman In Me. Right now I am focusing on a new book, A Day In Paradise. It is about a third of the way finished. Was called by a book store to come in and sign books

I was called and asked if I could come in and autographed some of my books for this President's and Valentine's Day weekend. I gladly obliged and while I was sitting on the floor of book store autographing books, I sold two copies of From My Front Porch and the sequel, Sinners Never Sleep.

I just finished editing Looking For Mr. Tonight and Satisfying The Woman In Me. I am also reading Hostage of Lies by Maxine Thompson. It is such a good book. I can't wait to see where Titi's journey ends once she unfolds all the lies of her past. A wonderful read.

I hope you all are enjoying the snow and again, have a Happy Valentine's Day!
Until next time, love to you all.

It's snowing in Sumter, SC

It is snowing in Sumter, SC, and it is beautiful. The grounds, dogwood trees as well as the other trees are covered with snow. It looks like a winter wonderland--a picture postcard. My sister is visiting from Atl and we are playing Scrabble, eating snacks, having ice cream and chilling. We are having a very fun time.

I am working on several pieces, edits, re-writes, etc. But for those of you who haven't yet read any of my work, please check out my novels, From My Front Porch and the sequel, Sinners Never Sleep. Until next time, be blessed!!!

Book Signing in Fayetteville, NC at Books A Million

Hello everyone,
I want to thank each and every one of you for coming out to join me at my book signing yesterday at Books A Million in Fayetteville, NC. I signed my novels, From My Front Porch and the sequel, Sinners Never Sleep. It went amazingly well and I can't thank you enough. There were many highlites. Not only did I have customers buying 2 books, but some bought 6 and even 8 which I was extremely grateful, but one person who supported me her husband's older brother is married to one of my first cousins and to top that, my brother and his wife were at a family reunion meeting with that first cousin and her husband of the person who bought books from me. How weird was that. Small world even. Later everyone until next time. Blessings to you always. Mama and I are going to play around with some checkers. Again, many thanks to every one.

Pleasant Sunday Afternoon

Hello to you all,
Spending the day alone. Brothers took Mama out for a while and after having a nice nap, I got up, got some coffee, put me feet up and began channel surfing. I have decided to not do any work again today. Last year was pretty busy what with all the book signings and writing. I don't necessarily see this as a waisted day. When I decide to work again, I will return to it reinspired, reinvigerated and ready to go. SOme times we just need to take a break and just chill. That's exactly where I am right now and gosh, it feels wonderful.

PS: Don't tell my brothers but I know they were afraid to take Mama out alone that's why they double teamed her, ha ha ha ha ha.

A cold and rainy but relaxing day

Two years ago today I lost my second oldest brother, George. He was such a gift; everyone who met him cared about him. He was that kind of person. This morning started off not so well, lots of crying, then some praying. As it turned out, Mama and I enjoyed watching the rain, television, we ate and napped. The day turned out to be pleasant inspire of all the losses we are experiencing. Blessings to all.

The reason I write

There are a number of reasons why I write. As I child I stuttered badly, but I always felt I had something to say that I wanted others to hear. I was teased while in elementary school so badly that I made it up in my mind that I was going to say what I had to say. When the words did come out, they did so in a flash and no one understood me anyway so the problem was still there. So early on my parents taught me to read and write. As a child I loved telling stories which more often than not, I wrote them down(went thru quite a bit of paper, too). By writing stories, reports at work, etc, I was able to communicate my thoughts.

The love of writing followed me and I decided to write songs, scripts, book. Now I am an author, writing under a pen name, Leigh McKnight. My birth name is Minnie Dix and I have written a number of books. My first published piece was in 1996,a short story, The Storm Within,From My Front Porch, self-published in 1997, 150 Reasons Why I Can't Serve On Jury Duty(humor), a series of children books, The Oak Trees That Talk(4 books), Belcher, The 10th Reindeer, The Reindeer That Missed The Flight, Champagne Dreams & Chocolate Kisses(short romantic stories. My First novel, From My Front Porch was recently re-published by Urban Soul under two titles, From My Front Porch and Sinners Never Sleep.

I enjoy writing and I am working on several other projects. I am just grateful to have a voice in doing what I so love and I truly want to thank so many of you for loving me and my work. Blessings to you all.

Much Love,
~~Leigh

It's a shame that Wyclef Jean has to defend his charity

It is a shame that Wyclef Jean who obviously loves his country and has supported his people for many years, has to defend his charity in the midst of the disaster Haiti is going through. I have always found it that people tend to talk about people who are affecting change--making a difference. A lot of time people who talk about others, trying to pull them down is not doing one single thing themselves to try to help and that is the real shame. A lot of them are people who have pockets of shame, embarrasing situation that they are trying to hide themselves or have little or nothing to contribute to human kindness. I say to those who has nothing positive to say, rather than trash someone who is bending his back doing the humanitarian thing to the utmost helping as well as involving others to help, WHY DON'T YOU JUST SHUT YOUR MOUTH??????

In the meantime, I know the people of Haiti appreciate what Wyclef Jean and others are doing to help and I hope God continues to bless each of us who do help.

Sugar free banana pudding

Mama is having the time of her life eating her treat--sugar free banana pudding! Go Mama. Gotta love it!

A Beautiful Day

Those of you who are familiar with me know that I am the caregiver for my mother who has Alzheimer's disease. Some days are more difficult than others but every day with her is a blessing. Today, we braved the cold and went out for a while. Momma does not appreciate the brisk air as much as I do and she usually attempts to retreat to the comfort of the warm house. Since I had errands to attend to, I had to foil her attempt. Once we were out, she behaved beautifully! We ended up having a lovely day. Thank God for small favors.

Momma is relaxing while I prepare dinner and a special treat for her. She deserves to be rewarded frequently just for having been such a wonderful mother, but if ever she earned a bit of pampering, it was today.

Momma and I hope that you had a beautiful day as well. If not, hopefully, you'll get the chance to make it happen tomorrow.

Good night and be blessed!

Starting 2010 with a BANG!

We've closed the book on 2009 and ushered in 2010. I don't know about you, but I brought the year in with a bang! The new year found me celebrating with the people who are dearest to me. Once that party was over, I settled down to begin scheduling book signings, editing my next novel and generally gearing up for a successful 2010.

I have thoroughly enjoyed staying connected with my friends, many of whom are fans of my work, and I look forward to meeting lots of new friends. For those of you who are not familiar with my work, I currently have two novels available, From My Front Porch and the sequel, Sinners Never Sleep. Please visit my website to read an excerpt.

As always, thank you for your continued support. Have a blessed and happy New Year!!

Sincerely yours,
Leigh
